Green Tach

I think a company that works exclusivly with the military to provide green tachtical power solutions would be fantastic. Think about it you could start by doing bases all around the world then have a seperate division that makes equipment for field stations such as those in Iraq etc...

On the Hour

This idea is for a facebook app, where your phone uses either the GPS or triangulation to calculate where you are on the hour... And depending on what your permissions are either it can be 8 hours a day / 24 hours a day... You can also set permissions as to how many levels deep people can see where you are, aka only your friends or everyone... You can also sign up so after everyone checks in with there data it txt's you with who is within a certain distance of your location.

Marketing folks can sell the data as where people have been and direct advertising to people who are familiar with the area of your store etc...

Edit Posts

Apparently when I am at work and I get an idea, I open this blog type it quickly publish then close without ever really rereading it. Apparently that leads to posts that make no sense, oops...

So I should go back and edit my posts expand on old posts and in general make sure they make sense!

Sharepoint annoyance

Share point should always have a open containing folder for when you do a search. Often times I search for soemthing only to have to manipulate the URL to open the folder and not the doc directly...

i kareokee

An ipod app which has the words of the song you are listening to so you can sing along, pay version could have the bouncing ball or the ability to buy actual kareokee versions of the song!

Green LCD Picture Frame

I would like a Solar or a hand crank LCD Picture frame, seems like a huge waste of electricity to have a LCD picture frame that sits in the corner never looked at but eats up electricity, even if you could have a remote solar pannel or one that has a suction cup can stick to a window, or even one that is combined with a thermometer, and you can place it out side.

local turbin or solar

I wish there was a easy you spend buy a wind turbine or solar panel and you hook it up right into your fuse box and when you are using power and it is producing it is pulled from the turrbine, and when you are not it just goes onto the grid, no need for a large battery infrastructure in home etc...

Google Service Provider

Not sure if this exists or not, but an organization that is dedicated to offering Google Services, on the infrastructure side, they would offer assistance with Set-up of Google Mail / Calendar / Apps etc.. on the Programming side they would offer assistance with Google API development / google cloud computing. On the marketing side they would offer assistance with Google Adwords / Google analytics / Search engine optimization etc...

Group vs individual

So a TV show where a bunch of people are pulled together to compete against an individual, I was originally thinking that it would be invention type things, where a really smart genious type competes against a bunch of random people to solve a problem or do some Apprentice type challenge...

Is one person smarter then the masses, find out next week on Tom vs. World....

Hold-it

So the idea is a post it that can also hold things, so post-its with a ring for pens. So if you havea notebook that does nto have a wring for pens you insert a post it and whamo instant pen holder, also could havea larger hole for highlighters and can attach to text books etc.

Ceritification Organization for Green Products

Have you ever wondered if how well does my town do at recycling? If I put a battery in a recycle container at a store does it really get recycled or if I send pay an org to take my computer away to get recycled does it really get recycled. Or even if I buy somethign that is made with 30% post consumer waste is it truely from that waste?

Well I suggest an organization to certify those and many more green initiatives...

Any thoughts?

EZ Share

I hate that people print out presentations for meetings etc.. But the main reason people do this is so that everyone in the meeting is looking at the same thing, and sometimes people do not have access to corporate networks etc... The way people currently share data is to use a USB fob and pass around the presentation which is a pain.

So my thought is to expand the bluetooth spec to include a drop box, The user that wants to share places the document in the drop box on there computer, then the bluetooth would kick on and share the doc, a password could be placed on it so people standing outside the room could not get the doc etc... But it would more or less transfer to all the computers instantly. This would be great in a university setting when the teacher has a handout, damn the entire class has it! The other usefull application is if E-ink readers take off, this could be a way of sharing files without having to worry about a roubust OS underneath able to browse a intranet etc....

VDI application/user drives

OK, about 3 years ago I came up with this idea and should have run with it then but never got around to it so here it is. So in vmware esx, you can add disk drives on the fly, this is key to what I will call VDI application/user drives

In VDM you can have linked clones, where a base image is used to create child images. The base image is shared so Windows is only loaded once, then you create a differential which records changes to that base image. If an application is installed then that data is saved in the differential and not the base etc...

So I think each user should have there own drive, through extensive folder redirection etc. all user session data would be saved to this location, the users actualdocuments etc. shoudl still be saved to an external NAS or other location seperate from this share, which is more or less profile information. All applications would also be installed via a thinapp environment to there own shares as well.

As users connect to desktops there user drive would be connected and the application drives which are used. Keep in mind these would be most likly not "drive letters" but folder locations so you are not limited to a small number of applications or conflicts with other mapped drives. Applications could be optimized to operate in this shared environment. ]

Seems like there is something to using the SAN to attach to applications etc, instead of copying accross the network just to write to the san etc.

Does this make any sense at all?

New Book for students

I was thinking last night that I should write abook about how to optimize your collegic efforts, AKA how to get an A even though you only recieved a B average on your graded school work. There are a few secrets to get on the good side of teachers, make sure that you deliver what the teacher wants and in the end get a better grade. I can probably think of at least 10 different "techniques" Maybe while I am working on Meghan and my restaurant I can start writting during the down periods...

Socks from Jason

I think this is a great idea, and possibly the basis for my website. socksandunderwear.com

So A big L and R on the bottom of socks so that they always wear and fit better as well as a code to indicate they are matches... The code would only be visible when they are right side out!

We can start a sock revolution!

Bionic Legs

I was thinking it would be cool to have bionic legs that regenerate as you walk with the Bionic features turned off. There would be a motor in the knee and ancle joint area and a battery belt, as you walk the motors would do nothing accept charge batteries. Then when you press the bionic button you could either run fast or jump high etc.

Common you know you want Bionic legs ;)

Random, yeah, I think so...

Tool Party

Women have pampered chef and candle party's and basket party's. I think guys should have tool party's.

The way it works, you have a project say a deck you want to build and you know your friend is a host for these things, so you call him up and ask him to give you a hand. Pretty much you are responsible for getting all the materials and have the tools you would normally use. Your friend brings a sampling of tools from what ever company sponsor it, maybe Black and Decker. So as you build he shows you how much easier it is when you have the "right tool". Ideally you would have a bunch of friends over so they can all help and learn about the tools. He could also have things out of his house, where he is building things and you can come over help and learn.

If you wanted to take it to a larger scale the parent company purchase run down places and then has all the "parties" at the run down place and at the end donates the house to charity, similar to habitat for humanity, but a focus on selling tools...

evite / mypunchbowl enhancement

I think evite and mypunchbowl should have a way to auto update or send a cal entry to google calendar. Such easy integration that would help my life be a little easier to manage. Ohh and it should be as easy as add to calendar, and if I have an account it should auto add on accept...

Wow just double checked after Andy said mypunchbowl already does most of it, and sure enough they do, one more reason to never use evite and start using mypunchbowl!

Search for a cause

I posted this then took it down cause I contacted MS to see if they would be interested in actually doing this... But don't see it happening so I am reposting...

Search for a cause, aka we get tied into google's affiliates and other search engines affiliates, Amazon etc... When a user goes to our site, they become a member and can choose the charity they want to donate any income from there seach to go to, all they have to provide is an e-mail address or contact number, we will reach out to the charity find out there info and once we get $100 we will send them a check. As people use us they will spread the word and more people from that organization will use us etc... All you need is a simple DB with users / preferences (What search engine they want to use as the default) and a DB of charities and some way of mapping users to income from the search engine (Could be as simple as we divide by the percentage of use, if 10% of the search is for skin cancer then we give 10% of the profit to skin cancer non profit. We will give 100% of the profit to the non-profits, but keep an administrative fee / money to cover expenses... Once it is built we could also do search for the future, where parents search and we put money into a fund for there child's education Or justsearch for yourself...

Do not mail list

Everyone is familiar with the Do Not call Lists, to avoid time wasting calls from telemarketers, what about a do not mail list. Just some way to stop all the mail I get and just tear up or shred and thow away. I get catalog for the people that lived at my house 6 years ago, as well as 10 credit card applications a day, I wish there was a way to make all that waste just go away! Perhaps some number to call on the mail or a link to unsubscribe. SPAM has a unsubscribe why not postal mail?

Meghan's Choose you own adventure website

Do you remember the choose your own adventure books, what about a web site where you can choose from the original choose your own adventure library or contribute your own book (we would have the framework available to authors) and the revenue would be generated by adds in between sections, i.e. when you click go down the hallway there would be an ad then the next section would show.

World Record Tag

So the idea is to have a festival with a huge all day game of tag, and base would be the area with a stage / band and food etc...

This is a past idea that my girlfriend Meghan and I had come up with...

Vegas Show

I think they should have a vegas style show with dance crews.

I saw a show a while back on MTV, I think it was called americas best dance crew. I would like to see that in person, they were doing all sorts of crazy acrobatic moves and it was all very impressive...

Past Idea that my friend suggested I post

Some way to capture the heat off the road, it seems as though roads are huge collectors of solar energy, it would be nice if there was some way to reclaim that from either a car or something built into the road. My idea was a grid that is paved into the road that heats up from the road surface, perhaps something that expands and contracts based on heat and cool, I dunno just a thought...

50 day moving averages

I was behind a day so here is my extra thought to catch me up...

Tonight in class we are talking about technical stock analysis and the fact that people use the moving averages to decide on when to buy and sell stocks. Traditionally they use 50 day or 200 day moving averages example my idea revolutionary and will guarentee you know all the important info prior to your day trading buddies... 49 and 199 day moving averages!

Windows Mobile integration

So I atttended the Microsoft ISU yesterday and was talkign to a bunch of people there about windows mobile devices. And what cool stuff they should be doing,

First they should have more apps like sideshow.

My second thought they are already talking about, zune and windows mobile consolidation or at least a zune interfrace on WM devices.

The third thought is to have integration between the xbox 360 and WM perhaps a way to extend content to WM devices, or to use it as a remote or play selection in a football game / search your music library etc....

Forth, extend the hat netflix relationship to include a WM client for playit now functionality ;)
